Changes within Thule Towing Systems North America - expansion of Lodi facilities and closing of manufacturing in Madison Heights
Thule Towing Systems LLC today announced consolidation of its North American towing business, presented under the Valley brand. To strengthen our competitive position the two existing plants will be merged into one, at the original manufacturing site in Lodi, established 60 years ago.
An investment program in Quality Assurance, Laser cutting technology, Coating techniques and IT has been approved by the Board of Directors. The Manufacturing in Madison Heights will be transferred to Lodi in a gradual process, accompanied by active redundancy planning and outplacement support.
The facilities in Madison Heights will include a new Tech Center and will retain major Corporate HQ functions plus extended OE Customer support. Furthermore the Asian manufacturing of Electrical components will be transferred to a new facility in Mexico after the summer season.
In a joint statement, George Caplea, President of Thule Towing Systems NA and Peter Kral, EVP Business Development of the Thule Group, say: ”These structural changes will strengthen Thule’s North American presence in the Towing Category considerably and reinforce our position as the truly global player in towing systems”.
