Thule supports the world’s largest cycling event
The 17th Annual Sea Otter Classic took place Mid April in Monterey in California, USA. The four-day “Celebration of Sport” is considered the world's largest cycling festival, hosting nearly 10,000 professional and amateur athletes and 50,000 fans. Thule was title sponsor for the inaugural race and had a large exhibition booth introducing to cycling experts the latest rack products in the Thule portfolio.
The overall winners of the Sea Otter Classic did not only get the glory and the medal. They were also awarded each with a one-year sponsorship from Thule. The sponsorship package includes a new Thule car rack system, racing kit, and the company will cover the athlete’s competition entry fees in 2007.
“Amateur racers keep the sport of cycling and events like the Sea Otter Classic going,” said Eric Wallace, Thule’s Western States representative. “Some of the top teams and individuals in the sport of mountain biking use and endorse our products, and although amateur racers may not get front page treatment in magazines, they love the sport as much as the pros and this is our way of saluting a few of them for their contribution to the sport.”
In addition to the sponsorship, each racer will be profiled on ThuleRoadTrip.com, and their race results will be followed through out the year on the site.
