Thule provides products that allow active people to transport their equipment by vehicles when they practise their favourite activities – safely, easily and in style. In Europe Thule’s products are mainly distributed via the car industry after market. In the US the products are considered accessories to the equipment they carry, and they are sold in sports shops. Today, the two categories have grown closer.
The result is a single powerful consumer proposition within Sports Utility Transportation. Thule is the world leader in this category and develops, manufactures and markets:
- Load carriers and accessories for cars, motor homes and caravans (brands Thule and Omnistor)
- Load carriers and accessories for the aftermarket of the car industry under various manufacturer brands
- Car rails for the car industry (brand Thule)
- Trailers (brands Brenderup, Thule Rental, Thule)
- Snow Chains (brand König)
- Towing Systems for the open market, directly delivered to leading car manufactors and to their aftermarket sales organisation (brands Brink, Valley)
Thule is a leader within all these product segments. In the market for load carriers – roof top boxes, roof racks, bike carriers, ski carriers etc – Thule is number one in the world. In the market for car rails for the car industry – Volvo, Ford, Jaguar Estate, BMW Touring etc – Thule is the second largest provider in Europe. Within the trailer market, Thule is number one in Scandinavia and of the three leading European suppliers. Within Snow Chains, Thule is one of the top three companies worldwide. Thule towing systems operating in Europe and North America hold leading positions.
Thule works in a market that is at constant change. The market growth is about 5-6 % yearly, while Thule has grown with more than 10% per year during the last ten years. Thule is the only truly global company on the market. In Europe there are however a few larger competitors on a regional basis, while the US the market sees a fierce competition between Thule and a major competitor.
