Product Development Engineer

Under the direct supervision of the Product Development Leader, you will be responsible for 
the development and optimization of new products within the Thule RV business line, 
covering the product categories awnings, bike racks, steps, and soft goods (tents and 
panels).


• You drive the development of new products from concept to industrialization, in full 
alignment with both external requirements and Thule’s high internal standards.
• You identify and implement product optimizations, focusing on both functional and quality 
improvements.
• You work according to the Thule Project System, following a structured stage-gate 
approach.
• You act as the technical contact for suppliers, refining designs and ensuring production 
feasibility.
• You provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, 
including sales, product management, production, and process engineering.
• You take ownership of product data accuracy and integrity within our PLM system.
• You are capable of managing all aspects of new product development projects — from 
project management, concept creation, and detailed design to prototyping, testing, and 
production start-up.
• You report directly to the Product Development Leader.


Profile
• You hold a Master’s degree in Industrial Design (Electromechanics) or equivalent 
experience.
• You bring approximately 10 years of relevant experience in product development within a 
similar function.
• You are an effective communicator and presenter, confident in pitching your ideas to 
senior management.
• You have strong language skills: Dutch (very good), English (good), and a basic 
knowledge of French and German.
• You are an expert in industrial product and/or soft goods design; familiarity with 
electronics is a plus.
• You have excellent 3D CAD skills; experience with SolidWorks is a strong asset.
• You take full ownership of your projects, showing both entrepreneurial drive and 
structured execution.
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• You are a creative, conceptual thinker with a strong analytical mindset.
• You naturally embody and represent the Thule brand and its active lifestyle values.
