Design Engineer

Role and Tasks 

Under the direct supervision of the Product Development Leader, and functionally guided by 
the Chief Engineer, you are responsible for the design and development of products within 
the Thule RV business line (awnings, bike carriers, steps, and tents/panels). 

• You develop new products from concept to industrialization, ensuring alignment with 
requirements and Thule quality standards. 
• You create and refine 3D designs and technical drawings, ensuring robust and 
production-ready solutions. 
• You translate concepts into detailed designs, considering functionality, manufacturability, 
cost, and quality. 
• You support prototyping, testing, and validation activities, and implement improvements 
based on test results. 
• You work according to the Thule Project System, contributing to all stage-gate 
deliverables. 
• You collaborate closely with the Chief Engineer on technical decisions and design 
direction. 
• You act as a technical contact for suppliers, supporting design discussions and ensuring 
feasibility. 
• You contribute to product optimizations and continuous improvement of existing 
products. 
• You ensure accurate and complete product data in the PLM system. 
• You provide technical support to internal stakeholders such as Product Management, 
Test Engineering, and Operations. 
• You report directly to the Product Development Leader. 

Profile 

• You hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electromechanics, Product 
Development, or equivalent). 
• You have several years of experience in product development (2–8 years). 
• You have strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred) and experience in technical 
drawing. 
• You have a good understanding of materials, production processes, and design for 
manufacturing.

• You are hands-on, detail-oriented, and take ownership of your designs. 
• You are a strong team player and communicate effectively with internal and external 
stakeholders. 
• You are structured in your way of working and comfortable in a stage-gate development 
environment. 
• You are creative and solution-oriented, with a strong analytical mindset. 
• You are fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French and German is a plus. 
• You are motivated by developing high-quality products that reflect the Thule brand.
