Custodian/Building Maintenance - Seymour, CT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks, such as painting, drywall, minor electrical issues, light carpentry, minor machine repair, replacing lights or changing filters prioritizing safety first.
• Sweep, mop, and clean floors. Duties may also include more specialized tasks, such as waxing, stripping and buffing.
• Respond promptly to spills or other accidents to ensure the safety of building occupants.
• Arrange or move furniture and equipment for meetings, events, or other functions.
• Assist with outdoor tasks litter cleanup, snow shoveling and walkway cleaning.
• Monitor buildings and grounds for safety and security issues and promptly reports them to Facilities Manager.
• Performs periodic building preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as required in PM software system.
• May work between Thule locations in Seymour and Milford as projects require.
• Other duties as required and assigned by the Facilities Manager or management team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

•  High School education or GED equivalent.
• Ability to operate forklift, scissor lift, floor machine and other specialized equipment a plus but training will be provided.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively.
• Must have the ability to perform significant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting or moving heavy objects up to 75 pounds.
• Strong communication skills needed to coordinate with supervisors, staff, and building occupants.
• Ability to understand and follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals, operating equipment, and disposing of hazardous materials is necessary. Experience a plus but training will be provided
