The Thule Group team in Longmont, Colorado (CO), Supports Local Trail Restoration

On a perfect 71F (21C) October morning, a group of Thule Group employees in Longmont, CO, helped county open space personnel with some much-needed trail maintenance on a local high-use trail system.

Our local mountain trails enjoy some hard use and our rocky-“Rocky Mountain” trails will need occasional maintenance.  These trails sometimes “braid out”.  In other words, the original trail becomes forked into multiple trail braids as muddy sections are avoided resulting in further degraded conditions through lost vegetation.

The team made excellent use of many interesting tools including Pick Mattocks, McLeods, rock hammers, pry bars and even a 6-person rock hoist. With these, the team sectioned off the secondary trails to funnel traffic back onto the main trail.

Morale, sense of accomplishment and eagerness to participate in more projects has been the main feedback from the participants who also received praise and astonishment from the county open space leader saying that our team was quite hard-working and exceeded all expectations.
