Shared core values

Our brands are the most valuable asset we have as a company and it is up to each one of us, in the best possible way, to be ambassadors for our brands. We want our consumers to relate to our brands when they are looking for solutions to transport their equipment in their active life. They should imagine the smart solutions we provide them, how easy it is to use the products and how safe and well-designed they are.

To keep our brands at the highest standard, we need to have all employees passionately devoted to our brands and have them understand the fundamentals of what our brands stand for and what kind of company we are. If we translate this into day-to-day operative things, it means:

  • Understanding the consumer and their needs of transporting their equipment
  • Developing innovative products that improve the way consumers can live their lives
  • Streamlining engineering and production processes
  • Manufacturing to the highest quality standards
  • Being present in the right retail channels with products on the shelves presented in line with the brand values when the consumer seeks the product
  • Always try to improve in you day to day tasks

We are convinced that companies that have healthy motivated employees perform better and we want our staff to live a balanced and active life where they use our products in their own day to day life as much as possible. Being active also means to respect nature and the environment we live in, to take care of one’s health, to stay curious, to have ambitions while having fun and exploring life.

We pride ourselves with smart and innovative products – our employees are key in making this a reality. We want our employees to be curious and strive towards smarter ways of working and see opportunities in all parts of our business and operation. Keep it simple, keep it lean, keep momentum, keep looking for improvements and always look for the result.

In addition to the more formal processes around annual, appraisals, competence and career development we are constantly looking for potential opportunities to promote internal candidates. Within Thule Group there are no clear career paths, we allow ourselves to have a pragmatic view on career development. Individuals can develop their career within Thule Group by taking on new responsibilities within their current role. We clearly promote cross functional career paths to broader employees skill sets and competence. Picking the right people for the right assignment is important for us at all times. We love results and put high demands on delivery and performance. If you prove that you are a good performer, there will always opportunities for you to grow within Thule Group.

Our core values

Shared Passion for Smart Solutions that Enable an Active Life are to permeate everything we do. Together with our Code of Conduct, we create the shared core values that are vital for Thule Group’s long-term development.

We conduct extensive international operations and have a major network of partners, which is why it is important for us to clearly communicate our values and guidelines: all employees must understand our shared core values and what we stand for.

The guidelines in our Code of Conduct apply to our entire value chain and are the same all over the world. Day-to-day issues concerning employees and the working environment are decentralized and each subsidiary is responsible for managing these issues in a manner that is consistent with the Group’s guidelines and with their own national legislation and culture.

A very important aspect of sustainability at Thule Group is for all of our employees to understand our culture, value our brand and work based on what these represent. This becomes even more important as we grow, become even more global and work within new product categories. Employees who are content and feel good, who are stimulated in their daily work and feel that they can make a contribution and develop, are a prerequisite for maintaining our strong market position.

The average numbers of employees in 2021 was 3,300 (2,422). The increase was driven by major investments in product development and an increase in sales, followed by increased manufacturing volumes at most of our production facilities.

Motivated and skilled employees the key to success

Skilled and motivated employees who are content and feel good, who are stimulated in their daily work and feel as if they can make a contribution and develop are a prerequisite for maintaining our strong position in the market. Each manager carries out an evaluation process for each individual employee every year, known as the Performance Management Process (PMP). In 2021, 82 percent (92) of white-collar workers and 56 percent (67) of blue-collar workers underwent an individual employee talks with their immediate manager under the Group’s Performance Management Process (PMP) framework. Due to the pandemic, the number of talks dropped from normally high levels.

As we operate in a global market with several different product categories, new purchasing behaviors and many different sales channels, we encounter both challenges and opportunities. We often work in cross-functional global teams with a major focus on change and short decision-makings pathways. As a company, we focus greatly on offering training and support to ensure employees are able to face new challenges and develop as individuals.

We seek to promote an active lifestyle among our employees, and many participate in joint training sessions, different sporting events and test days for our new products. It is our conviction that we all feel and perform better when we have a healthy lifestyle. Our employees are also important ambassadors of our products and values in their day-to-day work, and these are summed up by our brand slogan, Active Life, Simplified.
